TEL Athletes race to Gold and Silver at the Young Athletes Road Race.

Cera Gemmell secured Gold at the Young Athletes Road Race held at The Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston.  Competing against the top U17 Women in the country, Cera broke away from the rest of the field with 1km to go and finished well clear in a fantastic time of 16m32s, a full seven seconds in front of second place.  She will now lead the Scotland Teams into the London Mini Marathon next month.

Talking to scottishathletics just after the race, Cera said ‘It was a good race and I’m delighted to win it’.  Cera, who won the London Mini Marathon U17 Women’s race last year, continued by saying ‘I will go back to London for the Mini Marathon again and it is my last race as an U17 athlete.  I will give it my all and try and end the season on a high if I can.’

The U13 boys’ team of Corey Campbell, Aidan Page and Innes Wright took a well-deserved Silver podium position in the team race.

Individually the boys gave excellent performances with Corey finishing fourth, just missing out on a Bronze medal by a nose, in at time of 9m23s.  Aidan took tenth in 10m05s with Innes claiming sixteenth in 10m23s.

Also securing top twenty positions were Flora Henry (U15G) eighth in 13m42s; Angus Wright (U15B) fourteenthin 12m44s and Cameron Bullen (17M) nineteenth in 15m50s.

Other noteworthy performances were from Angus Chandler (U15B) 31st; Robbie Anderson (U17M) 45th; Olivia Robbins (U13G) 34th; Jessica Bullen (U13G) 50th and Finlay Milne (U13B) 65th.
