Corstorphine Frame Running Festival Report – May 2025

With another cracking weekend of sunshine, our frame running athletes took to the Corstorphine track to race in a number of distances from 50-800m. Outstanding performances was seen by all the athletes during the festival showing determination in every race and finishing with a smile on their face.

Highlights from the track

100m

To begin the festival, Frazer King of TEL and Catherine Paton of Corstorphine/TEL were strong from their quick start to sail through the line in 23.50 seconds and 25.80 seconds respectively. Frazer picked up a bronze medal and Catherine took the gold medal. Sophie Carruthers was up next with a powerful take off and maintained her speed throughout to earn a gold medal in 33.50 seconds.

800m

It was a warm and tough race for Emma Coyle of TEL, nonetheless Emma sailed through the finish line knocking 14 seconds of her previous 800m with a time of 2:57.70 seconds and picking up her first gold medal of the day.

200m

All 4 athletes competed in a fierce field of competitors exhibiting the level of competitiveness every athlete had to perform their best. Sophie Carruthers took to the start line first with a great attack round the first 100m and remaining strong throughout, she finished in 1st place with a time of 1:13.20 seconds and another gold medal. Next up was Emma Coyle and Frazer King showing incredible speeds throughout the race and picking up two golds in the process with finishing times of 37.40 seconds and 46 seconds respectively. Catherine Paton used every muscle necessary sailing round the bend to the finish line in a time of 55.10 seconds and a silver medal.

50m

After lunchtime, Frazer King started off the 50m event striding powerfully through the finish and more to secure yet another gold medal and a time of 14.70 seconds. Sophie Carrauthers was up after and with the 100m and 200m behind her she still managed to run a brilliant race to pick up another gold medal in a time of 18 seconds.

400m

In the last event of the day Emma Coyle and Catherine Paton were up against some tough athletes, however, this didn’t stop them from performing brilliantly all the way round. Emma clocked a 1:22.50 seconds and with that her third gold medal of the day. Catherine was pushed right to the very end picking up her second gold medal of the day in a time of 1:48.40 seconds.

Final thoughts

The yearly frame running festival is a great chance for frame runners to take part within a competitive environment. The support from the coaches, parents, guardians, partners, and friends was brilliant to witness – you could feel the positivity flowing through everyone, especially the athletes! It was great to see the TEL athletes represent the club and achieve some fantastic results showing that putting the hard work in training can pay off. Everyone left with a smile on their face and seemed eager to compete again.
