Team East Lothian AC aims to provide athletics to everyone and the opportunity to compete against other athletes. One way we are achieving this is with frame running sessions. Frame Running, is a fun sport offering exercise to people living with walking, balance, and coordination impairments. This allows children, young people, and adults who cannot functionally run to engage in athletics in a safe environment and challenge themselves to reach their sporting potential.
Here at Team East Lothian, we have the All-Abilities squad, currently consisting of a number of young people who do Frame Running on Wednesdays and Fridays. We also have an adult frame running squad, training on a Wednesday and Saturday. Each squad trains regularly with Team East Lothian AC coaches Cammy and Joe and have competed locally, nationally and internationally in the past. The squad itself was created as a result of a collaboration between Team East Lothian AC and Queen Margaret University.
The club is ever growing, we even had one athlete being featured in an STV interview to highlight the impact frame running has made to their quality of life.
The training sessions can consist of fun short/long sprints or endurance based runs depending on the individual and what they would like to improve, our coaches are happy to work with you!
The club is keen to continue to grow these squads, so if you’re interested in a taster session, or in joining one of the squads please get in touch with Cameron.smith@teameastlothian.org.uk
