It’s been a busy two days for Team East Lothian athletes competing in the Scottish Athletics East District Track and Field Championships 2017 at Grangemouth Stadium. Despite being exam season, there was a good turn out for TEL with some athletes competing on both days. For those of you who didn’t compete this time around, it’s a major date in the season and a fantastically well-organized event, so please consider it for next year.
On Friday night, battling a cold wind, there were podium positions for Angus Wright taking a fantastic Gold and a PB in the U15B 1500m, Cera Gemmell taking a hard fought Silver position in the U17W 1500m and Ross Clark jumping to Silver success and a PB in the U20M Triple Jump.
There were strong performances from Joe Donnelly in the U17M 1500m qualifying for the final with a PB and Grace Brennan qualifying for the final in the U15G 200m.
Coming fourth and narrowly missing a podium position was Bridget Harley with a PB in the U13G 1500m and Beth Howard in the SW Triple Jump.
Elana Kerr swung a PB in the Hammer with Fraser Kelly in the U17M 1500m and Tarryn Wood in the U20W Triple Jump putting in strong performances.
Special mention goes to Team East Lothian training partners for their strong performances with Emma Johnson (EAC) taking Silver in the U15G 1500m and Katie Johnson (EAC) qualifying for the U13G 200m final with a PB.
Despite the heavy rain forecast, there was a good showing of TEL vests again at the second day of the East District Track and Field Championship.
There were podium positions for Cameron Smith taking a fantastic Gold in the U17M 400m hurdles and a PB. Kerry Morris graced the podium twice with Silver in the SW 100m and Bronze in the SW Long Jump.
Joe Donnelly qualified for the final with a PB in the U17M 800m, Grace Brennan also qualified for the final in the U15G 75m Hurdles with a PB and Cera Gemmell got a PB in the U17W 800m which went to a straight final.
There was a good showing of TEL vests through the competition with solid performances from Laura Buchan in the U15G 100m and U15G 75m Hurdles, Catriona McPheat in the U17W 300m and Joanne Welch competing in both the U15G Shot Put and the U15G Long Jump.
Special mention goes to other East Lothian athletes and Team East Lothian training partners; Cameron Stevens (Lasswade AC) taking Gold in the SM 800m, Katie Johnson (Edinburgh AC) taking Gold in the U13G 800m, Ben Evans (Chirnside Chasers) taking Gold and a PB in the U15B 80m hurdles and Silver and a PB in the U15B Javelin, Rebecca Kerr (Haddington AC ) taking Bronze in the U13G Javelin with a PB and Andy Anderson (Dunbar RC) with a PB in the SM 800m.
