Team East Lothian athletes were among almost 1000 entrants to the Scottish Athletics National Age Group Championships at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow at the weekend. Under 13, Under 15 and Under 20 age groups were competing this weekend with Under 17 and Seniors in Grangemouth next weekend.
Top of the list for Team East Lothian success came on Sunday when Adam Hoole took gold in the U15 Boys 80m hurdles in a time of 11.82. On the same day, Laura Buchan finished 4th in the U15 Girls Triple Jump with 9.44m in a very strong field that saw the national age group record broken.
Musselburgh and District AC saw double, double success on Saturday with Brodie Watt and Euan Grierson taking silver and bronze respectively in both the U13 Boys 100m and the U13 Boys 200m. Team East Lothian’s Lily Middleton reached the final of the U13 Girls 200m final while Angus Wright finished 9th in the U13 Boys 1500m with a time of 5:03.9. Earlier in the day, Rosa Gally narrowly missed the U20W 400m final with a time of 62.67. Tarryn Wood jumped 10.87m to finish 6th in the U20W Triple Jump while Paul Sepenskas jumped 1.16m in the U13 Boys high jump to finish 10th and 3.85m in the U13 Boys long jump to finish 14th.
On Sunday, Eloise Gray progressed to the U15 Girls 100m final and came 8th in 13.02. Eloise also qualified with a 27.18 in the U15 Girls 200m heats later in the day but missed the final due to injury. Joanne Welch ran a 13.75 in the U15 Girls 100m heats and finished 9th in the U15 Girls Discus with a distance of 21.49m. Flora Hendry of MADAC finished the U15 Girls 1500m in a time of 5:27.95. Grace Brennan ran a 45.03 in the U15 Girls 300m heats and narrowly missed the U15 Girls 75m hurdles final with a time of 12.61. With his hurdling Gold in the bag, Adam Hoole also took part in the U15 Boys Javelin and finished 6th with a distance of 30.10m.
