Team East Lothian Shine in the Sun at East District Championships

What a weekend at the East District Track and Field Championship at Grangemouth. With the sun shining, Team East Lothian had a host of athletes compete and bring home medals.

On the Saturday Gold medals were won by Grace Brennan in the U15G Pole Vault with a jump of 2.35m, Michael Welch in the U13B shot put with a throw of 8.53mm, Hannah Hamilton-Meikle in U15G shot put with a throw of 9.73m and Connor Currie in the U17M discus with a throw of 34.79m.

Silver medals were won by Grace Brennan in U15G 75m Hurdles, Kate Johnstone in U20W 100m, Adam Hoole in U17M High jump, Joanne Welch in U15G shot put and Connor Currie in U17M shot put.

A Bronze medal was won by Kerry Morris in SW long jump.




Just missing out on track medals but giving solid performances to get into the finals were Adam Hoole in U17M 100m, Angus Chandler in U15B 800m, Joe Donnelly in U17M 800m, Kerry Morris in SW100m, Catriona McPheat in U17W 300m, Adam Hoole in U17M 100m, Lucy Thomson in U13G 800m, Aidan Page in U13B 800m and Christopher Stewart in U20M 400m.

Also making a good showing in their track heats were Omar Bajo in U13B 100m, Michael Hoole in U13G 100m and Hannah Hamilton-Meikle in U15 300m.

In field, again giving strong performances, but just missing on medals were Lucy Thomson in U13G long jump, Connor Currie in U17M Javelin, Michael Hoole in U13B long jump and Hannah Hamilton-Meikle in U15G long jump.




Sunday saw a similar fantastic turnout of purple vests with Gold medals for Cameron Smith in U20M in a time of 64:88, 400m hurdles, Kate Johnstone in U20W 200m in a time of 25.01, Fraser Kelly in U20M 3000m Steeple chase in a time of 10:19:25, Corey Campbell in U13B 1500m in a time of 4:58:84 and Tarryn Wood in U20W triple jump in a jump of 10.99m



Silver medals were won by Laura Buchan in U15G Triple jump and Michael Welch in U13B Discuss.

Bronze medals were won by Lucy Thomson in U13G 200m, Joanne Welch in U15G Hammer and in U15G Discuss.


Just missing out on a medal position, but with strong performances, were Omar Bajo in U13B 200m, Lewis Goodall in U17M 200m, Cera Gemmell in U17W 1500m, Flora Henry in U15G 1500m, Elana Kerr in U17W Hammer, Michael Welch in U13B Javelin and Lucy Brand in U15G High Jump.
