Gold, Silver, Bronze & PB’s for TEL athletes at the SSAA Track & Field Championships.

The Rotary International Scottish Schools’ Track and Field Championships, one of the major Scottish athletics competitions of the year, took place over two days at Grangemouth Stadium.  Just over one thousand athletes from two hundred and twenty one Scottish schools took part including TEL athletes representing Dunbar Grammar; Preston Lodge HS; North Berwick HS; Musselburgh Grammar; Knox Academy; Portobello HS and George Watsons.

Winning a Gold Medal was Cera Gemmell (NBHS) in the 3000m Over 17 race, securing a comfortable victory in 9m56.14s.

Silver Medal winners were Esme Callander (NBHS) in the Over 17 3000m in 11m18.03s a Personal Best; Michael Welch (PLHS) in the U14 Discus with a throw of 23.55m and Rebecca Kerr (DG) U15 Hammer in a throw of 23.03m.

Bronze Medals were achieved by Flora Henry (PHS) in the U17 3000m in 10m19.56s, a Personal Best; Adam Hoole (MG) in the U17 100m Hurdles in 14.49s; Grace Brennan (GW) U17 Pole Vault in 2.7m and the U17 300m Hurdles and Bridget Harley (NBHS) in the U15 1500m in 5m05.15s.

Athletes securing positions in the finals were Max Leslie (MG) fourth in Over 17 100m in 11.42s; Adam Hoole (MG) fourth U17 100m in 11.60s; Michael Welch (PLHS) forth U14 Shot Put and a Personal Best; Cameron Smith (PLHS) fourth in Over 17 400m Hurdles in 58.91s a Personal Best; Corey Campbell (DG) fifth in U14 1500m in 4m31.18s a Personal Best; Cera Gemmell (NBHS) fifth in Over 17 800m in 2m22.44s a Personal Best; Joe Donnelly (NBHS) sixth in Over 17 800m in 2m03.06s; Eloise Gray (DG) sixth in U17 100m in 13.30s; Angus Wright (NBHS) sixth in U15 1500m in 4m41.60s a Personal Best; Laura Buchan (MG) sixth in U17 Triple Jump in 9.79m; Rebecca Kerr (DG) seventh in U15 Javelin in 18.52m; Cameron Bullen (DG) seventh and Fraser Kelly (DG) tenth both in the Over 17 3000m; Stella McGregor (PHS) eight in U14 Long Jump in 4.09m and Aidan Page (DG) tenth in U14 1500m in 4m42.19s a Personal Best.

Other noteworthy performances were from Grace Brennan (GW) in the U17 80m Hurdles in 12.92s a Personal Best; Stella McGregor (PHS) U14 200m in 30.92 a Personal Best; Olivia Robbins (DGS) U14 100m in 5m17.26s; Rudie Shearer (KA) U14 1500m in 5m29.56s a new Personal Best; Joanne Welch (PLHS) U17 Hammer in 25.41m and Laura Buchan (MG) U17 Long Jump in 4.79m a Personal Best.
