Scottish Schools Road Race Successes for TEL athletes

Over 700 pupils from across Scotland took part in The Scottish Schools Road Race Championship in Pittencrief Park, Dunfermline on 2ndOctober with many Team East Lothian athletes representing their schools.

Taking the Gold medal was Cera Gemmell (NBHS) in Race 8 with a time of 12m02s, well ahead of her nearest competitor.

In the most exciting race with the closest finish, Corey Campbell (DGS) battled across the line to take a joint Silver medal in Race 4 with a time of 6m44s.

Race 6 was a thrilling race with the most top ten positions from East Lothian athletes.  Bridget Harley (NBHS) 9th in 10m36s and Flora Henry (PHS) 10th in 10m36s taking Portobello High School into 10th place in the Championship for that age category.

Innes Wright (NBHS) also managed to take a top position coming 10th in Race 4 with a time of 7m13s.

There were also great performances from Sadie Slifer (PHS, Race 1) 24th; Elsa McGregor (PHS, Race 1) 25th; Grace Harley (NBHS Race 3) 28th; Eily Sinclair (PHS Race 3) 35th; Jamie Smith (PHS Race) 46th; Robbie Anderson (NBHS Race 9) 49th; Cristina Elliot (PHS Race 3) 50th; Ella Nicholson (PHS Race 3) 53rd; Sandy Henry (PHS Race 2) 59th; Jim Henry (PHS Race 4) 59th; Grace Campbell (PHS Race 6) 62nd; Jessica Lorimer (PHS Race 6) 86th; Stella McGregor (PHS Race 6) 89th; Oscar Hilliam-Cook (PHS Race 2) 89th; Bobby Smith (PHS Race 4) 89th; Fin McIIwraith (NBHS Race 4) 101th and Zoe MacDonald (PHS Race 6) 106th.

There was local East Lothian club success at the 2019 Scottish Half Marathon with many taking advantage of running in their home county.  Running for Team East Lothian were Esme Callander finishing in 1h32m53s and Lynda Gilroy 2h42m59s.
