The East District Cross Country Relays took place in a sunny Livingston on Saturday 12th October with many Team East Lothian athletes donning their cross-country shoes for the first event of the season. As the popularity of the sport continues to increase, the event saw many hundreds of runners turn up to take part in a number of challenging and hotly contested races.
In the Young Male Race, Bronze place went to Team East Lothian’s relay team of Innes Wright (U13), Corey Campbell (U15) and Angus Wright (U15) in a combined time of 27m31s. In addition, Innes Wright claimed second fastest time in his U13 age category while in the U15s, Angus Wright took sixth place and Corey Campbell tenth.
In the same race, Team East Lothian’s B team of Finlay Milne (U13) Aidan Page (U15) and Robbie Anderson (U17) took a well-placed seventh in at time of 28m39s while the C team of Finn Middleton (U13), Connor Lupton (U13) and Jack Renton (U15) came twenty-eighth in 32m07s.
In the Young Female Race, Team East Lothian’s A Team came a well-placed sixth thanks to Olivia Robbins (U13), Bridget Harley (U15) and Flora Henry (U17) in a time of 30m23s with Robbins claiming the second fastest time in her U13 age category and Harley fourth fastest in the U15s.
Team East Lothian’s B team of Cristina Elliot (U13) and Jessica Bullen (U15) also gave a strong performance.
In the Womens’ Race, East Lothian athlete Esme Callander (U20), running for the University of St. Andrews, helped her team secure twentieth place in 51m54s. Megan Wright (HBT) and team came twenty-first overall while securing first place in the vet category in 52m53s. Dunbar RC came thirty-first with their team of Penny Gardiner, Karen Page and Rhona Anderson in a time of 56m07s.
The Men’s Race saw Team East Lothian’s team of Fraser Kelly (U20), Joe Donnelly (U20), James Fraser (U20) and Cameron Bullen (U20) take thirty-fifth place in a time of 1h01m26s.
