On Sunday 12th January, the Borders XC athletes headed to Paxton House over looking the River Tweed in Berwickshire for the fifth race of the season.
In cold and windy conditions the Wright family secured an historic family victory with Angus Wright (14-15) taking the overall Junior win, top East Lothian athlete and first in his age category in 10m20s while his sister, Cerys Wright, (8-9) secured first female place and first in her age category in 12m14s. Brother Innes Wright (12-13) took overall second place and first in his age category in 10m44s.
Top 10 places went to Robbie Anderson (16-17) 6thin 11m17s and Angus Chandler (14-15) 7th in 11m21s.
Other great performances were from Isaac Stevenson (12-13) 39th; Cristina Elliot (12-13) 44th; Sadie Slifer (12-13) 46th; Jessica Bullen (12-13) 49th and Roisin Napier (12-13) 69th
The Senior race took to a longer and more challenging course with the East Lothian female athletes giving an outstanding performance. Megan Wright (HBT) took second place in 32m44 and Rhona Anderson 5th in 33m55s.
Cameron Bullen was 14th Senior Male in 29m10s.
