Athlete Education: Nutrition for Athletes

Thanks to our sponsors, Scottish Building Society for supporting our Nutrition for Athletes talk this evening.  We had a great turnout with around 50 athletes attending.  The audience composed of a mixture of junior Team East Lothian athletes, adults from our “Train Like an Athlete” programme, and other juniors and seniors from the East Lothian clubs; Dunbar Running Club, Haddington Running Club and Musselburgh & District AC.

Thanks also to our speaker, Grace Mackenzie, nutritionalist, at Silent Wolf, who gave a really interesting talk, asking why nutrition is important to athletes, both senior and junior.  She explained where the focus needs to be, whether in training or in competition phases, and answered a host of questions from the floor on subjects relevant to athletes across all age groups.

A fascinating evening for all and thanks to our lead Endurance Coach, Alister Russell, for coming up with the idea and making the event happen.  Definitely a case of much food for thought.
