The Scottish Athletics Indoor League took place at the Emirate Arena in Glasgow on Saturday. 53 East Lothian athletes from across the clubs competed in 82 events throughout the day. Results are still pending but early indications from Team Manger Lesley Buchan are that it was a very successful start to the indoor season with many PB’s being slashed. On Sunday, TEL athletes headed to Peebles for the 3rd race in the Borders Cross Country Series. The junior athletes dominated the top spots with Flora Henry (14-15) continuing her winning streak of 1st Junior female in a time of 8:32. Joe Donnelly (16-17) finished 2nd junior overall in 7:35 and first in his age category in 7:35
Finishing in the top ten were team-mates Angus Wright (12-13) fourth overall and first in his age group in a time of 7:38, Cameron Bullen (second 16-17), Corey Campbell (third 12-13), Angus Chandler (third 14-15) and Innes Wright who was first 10-11 in 8:14. Great performances also from Robbie Anderson (fourth 14-15) Jack Renton (eighth 12-13) and Oliver Coghlan (nineteenth 10-11).
Esme Callander was first F16-17 in 9:39. Finishing in the top 10 were Niamh Richards (fourth F12-13) and Olivia Robbins (fifth F12-13). Other noteworthy performances were, Jessica Bullen (sixth 12-13), Marissa Kelly (sixth 14-15), Eve Welsh (seventh 12-13) and Sadie Slifer (ninth 10-11).
The seniors took to a longer and hillier course with Fraser Kelly 7th overall and first junior man in an excellent time of 25:40.
