Construction work for the Team East Lothian Community Athletics Hub Phase 1 Project is nearing completion. Key to enabling the project has been the financial support provided by 4J Studios and the European Union and Scottish Government through the TyneEsk Leader Programme. The project has delivered a number of key enhancements to East Lothian Athletics Arena at Meadowmill, on time and to budget.
A new roof has been added to the existing spectator area to provide shelter for athletes, spectators, parents and helpers during training sessions and at the various athletics meetings held throughout the year, including the Team East Lothian Summer Open Series and the East Lothian Schools competitions.
With our new outdoor covered strength and conditioning area, we’re awaiting the delivery of rubber mats and then we’re all set to introduce the Venice Beach vibe to training trackside – maybe without the Venice Beach temperature!
And finally, pole vault is coming to East Lothian. Well actually, it’s arrived and is all tucked away snug under its cover waiting for positioning once the weather gets a bit warmer.
Many thanks to all those involved in making the project happen and we look forward to future announcements about further facilities development soon.
