There was Gold, Silver and Bronze success for TEL athletes competing at the FPSG scottishathletics National U13, U15 and U20 Indoor Championship at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2019.
First to bring home a Gold medal was Michael Welch in the U13 boys’ 3kg Shot Put. He put in a massive throw of 9.64m, a personal best, and over 2 metres further than the silver medalist. Corey Campbell took Silver in a thrilling straight final for the U15 boys’ 1500m. Campbell withstood some jostling at the start to maintain his position and then gave a superb sprint finish to take second place in 4:33.18, a personal best. A Bronze medal win went to Innes Wright in the U13 boys’ 1500m in 4:58.05, giving him a personal best.
There were also personal bests for TEL athletes: Cristina Elliot U13 girls’ 200m and 800m; Cameron Smith U20 men 400m; Finlay Milne U13 boys’ 800m and Long Jump; Lewis Goodall U20 men 60m; Lucy Thomson U15 girls’ 60m, Aidan Page U15 boys’ 800m; Joe Donnelly U20 men 800m; Paul Serpenskas U15 boys’ triple jump and Euan Grierson U15 boys’ 60m after battling through the heats and semis to make the final.
The previous weekend TEL athletes competed in the 2019 FPSG Senior and U17 Championship at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. There were excellent Personal Bests from Adam Hoole in the U17M 60m; Kerry Morris SW 60m; Catriona McPheat SW 400m and Laura Buchan U17 Triple Jump. Great performance also from Eloise Gray in the U17W 60m and 200m; Adam Hoole U17m 60m hurdles & High jump and Laura Buchan U17W Long jump.
