TEL Cross-Country update

The scottishathletics Masters Cross-Country Championship took place in a sunny but cold Hawick on Saturday 2nd February’19 with Gold medals going to Team East Lothian Cross-Country Managers Rhona Anderson winning the W55 and Megan Wright winning the W45.  Congratulations to them both!

Two Borders Cross-Country events have taken place since last reporting.  The Sixth in the Series took place in the beautifully snowy Minto Golf Club in Hawick on the 3rd of Febuary’19.  Flora Henry (14-15) continued her domination taking first junior female win in 18m 18s.  Angus Wright (12-13) was first East Lothian athlete in 15m 57s taking overall second place and first in his age category.

Finishing in the top ten were Cameron Bullen (first 16-17) in 16m 57s; Angus Chandler (third 14-15); Robbie Anderson (fourth 14-15) and Innes Wright (first 10-11) in 17m 36s.

In the senior race, Megan Wright (F40+) one again gave an impressive performance, finishing third woman overall and first in her age category in 31m40s.  Rhona Anderson (F50+) came 6th woman overall and first in her age category.

The Penultimate Borders XC Series race took place in a sunny and warm Chirnside on Sunday 17th Febuary’19. Angus Wright (12-13) was first East Lothian athlete, storming over the line taking second place and first in his age category in a time of 14m 39s.  Flora Henry (14-15) gave another impressive performance to secure her 7th junior female win of the series in 16m27s.

Finishing in the top ten with strong performances were Cameron Bullen (16-17) third overall and first in his age category in 14m42s; Joe Donnelly (second 16-17) and Innes Wright (first 10-11) in 15m58s.

Esme Callander was first F16-17 and 5th female in 18m13; Jessica Bullen (fourth F12-13); Sadie Slifer (fifth F10-11) and Marissa Kelly (third F14-15).

In the senior race first East Lothian athlete was Fraser Kelly coming 1st Junior Man and 10th overall and in a time of 27m16s.

Megan Wright (F40+) was first in her age category and 4th woman overall in a time of 30m25s.
