Thirty Team East Lothian athletes travelled to the Emirates Arena in Glasgow to compete in the 2019 Combined Events, Relays and Masters Championship.
There was Bronze success for Adam Hoole in the Men’s U17 Heptathlon. Competing in an impressive seven events over two days, Hoole came confidently 1st in the Men 60 metre; 2nd in the 60m hurdles; 3rd in the long jump and shot put; 4th in the high jump; 5th in the 1000m and 6th in the pole vault gaining him a well deserved podium position. He also achieved an overall Heptathlon Personal Best with individual PB’s for five of the seven events – 60m; Long jump; Shot put; 60mH and 1000m. Well done and Congratulations to Adam!
International parasport athlete Maria Lyle (U20) had a great start to her season coming 1st in the Women’s 60 metre T35 in a time of 9.09s, a new Personal Best.
In the relay events, the Senior Men’s team of Lewis Goodall; Cameron Smith; James Fraser and Joe Donnelly qualified through the heats and took 6th place in the final with a time of 1m37.08s.
Also making it to the final was the U17 Women’s team of Grace Brennan; Joanne Welch; Marcia Callander and Eloise Gray in a time of 1m49s. Their Final will be held during the European Athletics Indoor Championships on Friday 1st March’19.
Qualifying through the heats into the semi-finals and narrowly missing out on a place in the finals were the U13 girls team of Olivia Robbins; Sadie Slifer; Roisin Napier and Layla Magee and the U15 girls team of Hannah Pathirana; Erin Hall; Esme Slifer and Lucy Thomson.
Also giving their best performances but not making through were the Senior Women’s team of Kerry Morris; Beth Douglas; Catriona McPheat and Beth Howard. The U13 Boys’ team of L Connor; J Marshall; Joe Fraser and Michael Welch. The U15 boys’ team of Euan Grierson, Joe Young, Jack Renton and Gregory Hoggan.
