The Lindsays’ scottishathletics National Cross-Country Championship took place at Callender Park in Falkirk on Saturday attracting a record entry of just over 100 clubs and 2,458 names on the start list. As the biggest and most prestigious of the Cross-Country races, TEL had two medal winners!
First to take a Silver Medal podium position was Corey Campbell in the Boys U13 race. With a thrilling sprint to the finish, Corey secured silver in a time of 11m24s. Also taking a Silver Medal was Cera Gemmell in the U17 women’s race. With a drawn out field, Cera secured her podium position in a time of 24m15s. Well done guys!
There were also superb performances from Flora Henry (U15 girls) in 8th place; Aidan Page (U13 boys) in 11th; Angus Wright (U15 boys) 20th; Innes Wright (U13 boys) 23rd and Bridget Harley (U15 girls) 28th. With Corey; Aidan and Innes taking the Team East Lothian’s U13 boys’ Team into 4th position, equalizing with 3rd place in points , but just missing out on a podium position on a tiebreaker.
Other noteworthy performances were from the U13 Girls: Rudie Shearer 62nd; Cristina Elliot 99thand Jessica Bullen 123rd. In the U13 Boys: Colin Riley 61st; Finlay Milne 113rd and Jack Renton 123rd. In the U15 Boys: Angus Chandler 37th. In the U17 Men: Cameron Bullen 39th; Joe Donnelly 47th and Robbie Anderson 65th. In the U17 Women: Esme Callander 33rd.
Our Cross Country Managers gave great performances in the Senior Women’s Race with Megan Wright coming first East Lothian athlete home in 52nd place in a time of 46m14s and Rhona Anderson in 89th out of recored breaking 319 finishers.
