Gold and Silver at the SSAA for TEL athletes

The Rotary International Scottish Schools Athletics Association Indoor Track and Field Championship took place last week at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Pupils from across East Lothian competed at the event, representing their schools.

Following on from his Heptathlon Silver medal last week, Adam Hoole (MG) stormed to victory taking Gold in the Boys’ Over 16 60m Hurdles in a new Personal Best of 8.15seconds.  He also secured a Silver medal in Boys’ Over 16 Long Jump in 6.85m, again a new Personal Best.

There was Gold for Grace Brennan (GW) in the Girls’ Over 16 Pole Vault, with a Personal Best jump of 3.10m.  Brennan also came a well-placed fourth in the 60m Hurdles in 9.32s securing a Personal Best performance time in the heats.

Making it to the finals were Corey Campbell (DR) coming a respectable fourth in the Boys’ U16 1500m in a new Personal Best of 4m20.01s and seventh in the 800m A Final in a 2m14.16s while securing a Personal best performance in the heats. Joe Donnelly (NBHS) was third in Over 16 Boys’ B Final in 2m05.46s; Elosie Gray (DG) sixth in the Girls’ Over 16 60m in 8.15s; Laura Buchan (MG) sixth in the Girl’s Over 16 Long Jump in a Personal Best of 5.06m and seventh in the Triple Jump in 10.19m;

Making to the semi finals were Eloise Gray (DG) Girls’ Over 16 200m in 26.51; Euan Grierson (MG) in the Boys’ U16 60m in 7.71s and the 200m in a Personal best of 23.98s and Lewis Goodall (PL) Boys’ Over 16 60m in 7.54s;

There were Personal Best performances from Rhys Black (DG) Boys’ Over 16 200m in 25.05s and 400m in 54.8s; Evie Welsh (DG) Girls’ U16 300m in 48.72s; Aidan Page (DG) Boys’ U16 800m in 2m17.16s and Robbie Anderson (NBHS) Boys’ Over 16 800m in 2m15.69s

Other noteworthy performances were from Laura Buchan (MG) Girls Over 16 60m in 10.19m; Evie Welsh (DG) Girls’ U16 High Jump in 1.45m.  Cristina Elliot (PHS) Girls’ U16 800m in 2m44.24s; and Stella McGregor (PHS) Girls’ U16 Long Jump in 4.13m.
