Maria Lyle Visits Team East Lothian Summer Camp

Many thanks to double World Champion Maria Lyle who took time out of her preparations for Tokyo to visit athletes taking part in the Team East Lothian Summer Camp at Meadowmill. As Team East Lothian Community Coach, James Fraser said, “it’s really fantastic to have Maria come down and inspire everyone who’s at the camp this week.”

With support this year from the East Lothian Council “Get into Summer” programme, the Team East Lothian Summer Camps for 2021 provide a fun-filled opportunity for Primary School aged children to run, jump and throw at the East Lothian Athletics Arena at Meadowmill. Led by a team of experienced UK-Athletics certified coaches, the sessions are ideal for both beginners or previous attendees of the Team East Lothian Run-Jump-Throw Programme.

Limited spaces are still available for P1-P3 pupils and P4-P7s in weeks beginning the 12th July and 2nd August.

Each Camp provides daily training sessions for 5 days and gives athletes the opportunity to work on the key building blocks of athletics – agility, balance and coordination – while also gaining experience of some of the basic technical aspects of running, jumping and throwing, all wrapped up in a fun schedule of games and activities.
