Team East Lothian athlete, Donald Ross, won silver in the U13 Boys Scottish pentathlon championship in Ayrshire at the weekend. Remarkably, Donald achieved personal best performances in each of the five track and field disciplines, scoring 1,639 overall. As well as throwing more than a metre over his previous best for the shot put, Donald took more than 13 seconds off of his previous best for the 800m.
It’s a challenging day for the U13 athletes that tests their speed, strength and stamina. The high jump was the first event at 09:30, followed throughout the day with the 75m hurdles, shot put, long jump and the competition closing with the 800m track event at 15:30.
