What was predicted to be a wet and windy forecast turned out to be a sunny day for the frame running athletes taking to the track at Pitreavie. There were 6 Team East Lothian athletes taking part in the first frame running festival of the year. A range of events held were from 40 metres all the way to 800 metres, and with some brilliant performances and close calls at the finish line, every athlete did themselves proud.
The 100 metres saw Catherine, Frazer, Helen, Sophie, and Sam at the start line. With some fantastic sprints from everyone, Catherine and Sophie achieved a gold medal, as well as Sophie achieving a PB. Helen and Sam finished with a silver medal and Frazer went home with a bronze medal.
In the 50 metres we had Sophie and Frazer competing, with some explosive starts and strong finishes, Sophie and Frazer both walked away with a gold in their races.
To end the first half of the festival, Emma and Helen took to the line for the 800 metres, running strong from start to finish, resulting in Emma picking up the gold and a new PB, and Helen with a silver.
The 200 metres posed challenging with a head wind on the home straight for the athletes racing to the finish line. Emma and Sophie walked away with a gold in their races, Catherine achieved a silver, while Frazer picked up another bronze.
In the last event of the day, Emma, Catherine and Helen stormed round the track to claim the gold in their individual 400 metre races. Along with a gold, Emma and Catherine also shaved 2 seconds off her previous PB.
The hard work these athletes put into every training session really showed during this festival, pushing themselves all the way and finishing with a smile on their face. A special shout out to Emma and Sophie for winning three gold medals, as well as Helen smashing it in her first frame running festival.
